The review should be structured as follows:<\/span>

1. An overview of the ethnography and the author’s main arguments (c.600 words)<\/p>\n

2. A discussion of (a) how the author’s work relates to other anthropological work on this topic and\/or geographical area and (b) and what it adds to existing literature, both empirically and theoretically – this is where we expect you to bring external references to support your arguments (c.800 words)<\/p>\n

3. An assessment of the strengths the authors’ approach (both in terms of the methods used and theoretical approach) methods, and its potential gaps or weaknesses (c.800 words)<\/span><\/p>\n

4. Your thoughts on how future ethnographies could improve on existing work (c.300 words)<\/p>\n

We use the IGH MSc essay marking criteria (see below) for this assessment. <\/p>\n

In this assessment, criteria on the  ‘clarity of argument\u2019 will be used to assess what you propose in relation to elements 2a, 2b and 4. Criteria on the ‘use of evidence’ and ‘grasp of theory and concepts’ will be used to assess elements 1, 2 and 3. Criteria on ‘originality and critical thinking’ will be used to assess elements 2a, 2b, 3 and 4.
