      \n Hodges<\/span><\/i><\/b>, 576 U.S. 644, 135 S. Ct. 2584 (June 26, 2015).<\/span><\/b>

      \n The Supreme Court held that the Constitution entitles same-sex couples to
      \n civil marriage \u201con the same terms and conditions as opposite-sex couples.\u201d
      \n As we all know, the game-changing nature of this decision cannot be
      \n overstated. This decision led to Pavan v. Smith, ___ U.S. ___, 137 S. Ct.
      \n 2075 (June 16, 2017), which held that an Arkansas statute that denied
      \n married same-sex couples\u2019 access to the constellation of benefits that
      \n Arkansas linked to marriage was unconstitutional to the extent that the
      \n statute treated same-sex couples differently from opposite-sex couples.
      \n (The Arkansas statute generally required the name of the mother\u2019s male
      \n spouse to appear on the child\u2019s birth certificate when the mother
      \n conceived the child by means of artificial insemination, but allowed
      \n omission of the mother\u2019s female spouse from her child\u2019s birth
