In the industry of your interest (Law) , please 1) describe your specific research interests or questions, 2) develop a null hypothesis and an alternative hypothesis, 3) identify your sample and population, 4) design your sampling strategy. Please refer to the following section for what is required for each. The document should be about 2 pages (double-spaced, not including references). <\/span><\/p>\n

1. Research Topic: <\/span><\/span>Please describe the specific topic or question you are interested in. Write a short paragraph to explain why this topic or question is important and how it is grounded in existing research (10 points).<\/span><\/p>\n

2. Hypotheses. <\/span><\/span>Based on your research topic, please propose a null hypothesis and an alternative hypothesis. Write a short paragraph to identify the variables in your alternative hypothesis and describe what levels of measurement (i.e., nominal, ordinal, interval, ratio) they will be. For definitions of each level of measurement, please refer to handout #1 and the class slides on D2L. (10 points)<\/span><\/p>\n

3. Sample and Population. <\/span><\/span>Write a short paragraph to indicate your population and your sample. (5 points)<\/span><\/p>\n

4. Sampling Strategy. <\/span><\/span>Lastly, based on your hypotheses, please propose your sampling strategy (see Handout #4 on D2L) and evaluate the feasibility of this strategy. You should also talk about the advantages and disadvantages of your chosen strategy. (15 points)<\/span><\/p>\n
