Some additional information about the ‘Applied Project’ for  Calculus I .<\/p>\n

(1) It should be a word problem that clearly uses concepts we have covered in Calculus I.<\/p>\n

(2) It should relate to a topic that either interests you or is related to your professional \/ career goal(s).<\/p>\n

(3) The statement of the problem should not<\/span><\/strong> come from a textbook (eg, do not copy a word problem from a Calculus textbook).<\/p>\n

(4) You can use a science, math, engineering, technology source (eg, article, science related textbook — just not a Calculus textbook, website, data, or other type of information to provide you with ideas for a topic. If you use other sources (beyond your own primary knowledge) you should cite these sources using a format such as APA (or your preferred citation format).<\/p>\n

The goal of this  project is to provide insight into the utility and beauty of Calculus in a variety of different areas. An approximate length of this project is 1-3 pages. The statement of the problem and solution might only be 1\/2 – 1 page… Narrative around a brief background or description of how this applies to your interest, your field, your career, your goals etc… can be another 1\/2-2 pages.<\/p>\n
