Students will create an applied
\nproject based on an actual public administration issue relevant to their
\ncurrent (or former) workplace or profession. It should be an examination of a
\nparticular public administration <\/span>issue <\/span>that <\/span>is <\/span>relevant
\n<\/span>to <\/span>operational <\/span>practice
\n<\/span>and <\/span>performance, <\/span>and <\/span>which <\/span>has <\/span>a <\/span>potential solution(s). From that
\nperspective, the project should be prepared as if it was an internal consulting
\nreport <\/span>to <\/span>be <\/span>presented <\/span>to <\/span>the <\/span>organization\u2019s <\/span>decision <\/span>makers. <\/span>In <\/span>general <\/span>terms,
\n<\/span>the intent <\/span>of <\/span>the <\/span>project
\nis to identify a public administration <\/span>matter <\/span>or issue (e.g., budget, evaluation, etc.)
\nthat the student can approach using the knowledge obtained in the program.<\/p>\n

Grading <\/span>for <\/span>papers <\/span>will <\/span>be <\/span>based <\/span>on <\/span>the <\/span>completeness <\/span>of <\/span>the <\/span>project
\n<\/span>relative <\/span>to <\/span>the <\/span>topic <\/span>analyzed
\n<\/span>and how <\/span>well <\/span>the topic integrates the <\/span>concepts learned <\/span>in <\/span>public
\nadministration. All capstone <\/span>projects <\/span>will be submitted in Week 7. NO PROJECTS
\nWILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER THIS DATE, BUT YOU CAN ALWAYS SUBMIT YOUR PAPER EARLY.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The written submission for the
\napplied project will be a minimum of 15 typewritten pages and a maximum of 20
\ntypewritten pages (Times New Roman 12 point font, double-spaced typing, with
\none inch margins all around). Students will use the APA standard method of
\nnoting references. All APA publication rules will be observed. Poor writing
\nquality will produce a substantially lower grade. Proper spelling, grammar, and
\nsyntax are important. The purpose of a project is to gather research on a
\nparticular <\/span>topic <\/span>from <\/span>a <\/span>number <\/span>of <\/span>legitimate <\/span>resources, <\/span>which <\/span>in <\/span>turn <\/span>will <\/span>be <\/span>used <\/span>to <\/span>develop
\n<\/span>the <\/span>project. The key to the
\nwritten portion is to compare and contrast the research, in relation to the
\nproject.<\/p>\n

Papers <\/span>will <\/span>be <\/span>uploaded
\n<\/span>to <\/span>the <\/span>Turnitin <\/span>site <\/span>on <\/span>the <\/span>course <\/span>webpage <\/span>to <\/span>detect <\/span>the <\/span>incidence <\/span>of plagiarism.<\/span><\/p>\n
