I have been playing soccer for 12 years and have committed to play in college. I have always played on a high level club team and varsity for high school. Within playing on these teams I have met and played with various girls who were apart of the national team (youth and adult). Recently on Netflix they released \u201cUnder Pressure\u201d a documentary following the United States women\u2019s national team in preparing and taking part in the FIFA women\u2019s world cup in 2023. While binging this documentary I noticed that there was an emphasis on how the U.S. team has been dominant since the women\u2019s world cup was introduced, the inequality of pay between the men\u2019s and women\u2019s teams, and how more governments have been working to develop their women\u2019s programs. Within the documentary they explained how the women\u2019s world cup was introduced after and the programs for the women were extremely underrepresented and developed. Therefore I wanted to engage and see how government investment within womens soccer has either helped or not helped women\u2019s teams get better as the men\u2019s first FIFA world cup was in 1930 and the women\u2019s was in 1991.
