Page 1 <\/span><\/strong>\u2013 <\/span>Identify parenting Pressures<\/strong> <\/span>(10 points):<\/p>\n

In this section, clearly identify three to four parenting pressures faced by families in the United States will be clearly identified and described with a specific example for each.  <\/p>\n

Example: The pressure of being an African American pregnant mother where there is limited research on the unique factors that woman of color face.<\/p>\n

Page 2  \u2013 Family Pressure Leading to Crises <\/span><\/strong>(10 points)<\/strong><\/p>\n

This section will focus on one of the selected family pressures and describe how it can result in family crisis. The impact on both the parents and children during this crisis will be discussed, including relevant statistics if available.<\/p>\n

Example: Serena Williams\u2019 numerous preganacy complications, including blood clots and emergency cesarean section, leading to increased trauma for the newborn.<\/p>\n

Page 3 \u2013 Social\/Societal Changes and Parenting Techniques<\/strong><\/p>\n

The third page will explain how the identified family crises could lead to social\/societal changes, such as emphasizing increased awareness.  (10 points). Additionally, parenting techniques that could aid in such situations will be discussed (10 points)<\/p>\n

Example: Suggested parenting strategies for African American pregnant mothers could include: Education and preparation, including advocacy for informed medical care; Mental Health Support, such as counseling or therapy to navigate emotional aspects and reduce stress.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, social and societal changes resulting from the crisis will be explored. In the case of Serena Williams, increased awareness of the disparities in maternal healthcare, potential policy change, and improved healthcare access for African American woman are discussed.<\/p>\n
