When he stated outload his own gender norm beliefs, he could see how his child would withdraw from everything<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-size: 14pt; cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">There was one parent who shared that this is a scaring time and \u201cyou are gonna have&nbsp;emotions that you&#8217;re gonna have to try to figure out how to deal with them\u201d &nbsp;<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-size: 14pt; cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">It is okay to be afraid but things that maybe we don&#8217;t we don&#8217;t understand we don&#8217;t know we&#8217;re not educated but we can get educated we can move forward&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-size: 14pt; cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">I think this message is simple and can be applied to any child \u2013 to have any child living authentically, to have confidence to feel beautiful<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-size: 14pt; cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">I found this to be VERY POWERFUL when one father stated: \u201ca best father should be as affirming as possible to their transgender children because the perception is that we don&#8217;t support them in the same way as mothers\u201d &nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4 style=\"margin-top: 6px; margin-bottom: -3px; font-size: 16pt; line-height: 1.5; cursor: auto;\">6)<span style=\"cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">&nbsp;<\/span><strong style=\"font-weight: bold; cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">Discuss your response to this video:<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p style=\"margin: 12px 0px; font-size: 14pt; cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">My initial response is how appreciative I was that these parents were honest and open. Parenting alone is filled with uncertainty and fear and that fear should not impede supporting a transgender child with unconditional love. Below are some specific statements that made an impact on me and I stated why I feel this were important.<\/p>\n<ol style=\"margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 6px; margin-left: 25px; cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">\n<li style=\"font-size: 14pt; cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">\u201d you are goanna have emotions that you&#8217;re goanna have to try to figure out how to deal with them,\u201d we tell kids they have to deal and learn how to handle emotions and sometimes as parents we forget that applies to us and it is our jobs as adults to figure out and deal with them<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol style=\"margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 6px; margin-left: 25px; cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">\n<li style=\"font-size: 14pt; cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">Simple message: \u201cfollow the lead of your child\u201d developmental this teaches kids how to become self-resilient, take initiative but sometimes we forget to re-visit this when children get older<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-size: 14pt; cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">It is okay to be afraid but things that maybe we don&#8217;t we don&#8217;t understand we don&#8217;t know we&#8217;re not educated but we can get educated we can move forward&nbsp;\u2013 we don\u2019t know everything that is why parenting is a process of learning and in this process, we can educate ourselves, ask for help and then move forward creating a nurturing and supportive, safe environment for both our child(ren) and ourselves.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-size: 14pt; cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">\u201c\u201ca best father&#8217;s should be as affirming as possible to their transgender children because the perception is that we don&#8217;t support them in that way, the way mothers do\u201d and though this was originally spoken from the words of a parent with a transgender child \u2013 I think that society still has the perception that fathers are not as affirming as mothers \u2013 not always viewed on the same equal on the playing field.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4 style=\"margin-top: 6px; margin-bottom: -3px; font-size: 16pt; line-height: 1.5; cursor: auto;\"><strong style=\"font-weight: bold; cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">7) Clearly state WHY this is a must see for ANY and ALL parents<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p style=\"margin: 12px 0px; font-size: 14pt; cursor: auto; color: inherit;\">I think one reason ALL parents need to see this is because it is an opportunity to learn as a parent and grow as an individual. Parenting can be a lonely process and sometimes asking for help when one doesn\u2019t understand or doesn\u2019t know where to get information is difficult. Watching videos can be helpful in this process. One particularly important aspect of this video is that is comes with resources for parents \u2013 this video ends with even a place for the opportunity to share your own story \u2013 a place to find a voice.
