\n this assignment, you should, at a minimum: (a) explain James\u2019 view of
\nfaith, (b) explain why Clifford would reject it, (c) explain Clifford\u2019s
\nview of faith, and (d) argue either that (i) one of these views is
\nsuperior to the other or<\/em> (ii) your own view of faith is superior to both.<\/p>\n

The nature and structure of your paper will depend on whether you choose (i) or (ii).<\/p>\n

Option (i)<\/h4>\n

You may agree with either James or
\nClifford. In that case, you\u2019ll want to criticize some aspect(s) of
\nJames\u2019 argument. Try to make it clear to the reader exactly <\/em>what
\n you find objectionable with James\u2019s argument. On the other hand, you
\nmay agree with James. In that case, you could develop a criticism on his
\n opponent\u2019s behalf and defend his view from that criticism. (If you take
\n this tack, be careful to not just recapitulate the article. This
\nassignment is an argumentative essay so, naturally, you should be doing
\nsome arguing.)<\/p>\n

Option (ii)<\/h4>\n

Alternatively, you might think that both
\nthe James\u2019 view of faith, as well as Clifford\u2019s, are misguided. In that
\ncase, you\u2019ll want to develop criticisms of both and offer your own view
\nas an alternative. You could also just develop criticisms of both
\nwithout offering your own view. Supplementing your position with an
\narticle or video from this module is also welcome.<\/p>\n
