For this assignment you are asked to read and critique an archaeological site report on a Paleo-<\/div>\n
Indian or Archaic site from the Ontario\/Great Lakes region. The report may be a monograph (in<\/div>\n
book form) or a substantial article in a peer-reviewed journal.<\/div>\n
In conducting your review and critique you should consider the following questions:<\/div>\n
– What is the intended audience of the article or monograph?<\/div>\n
– What are the goals of the report\/article, are they clearly articulated? Were these goals<\/div>\n
achieved?<\/div>\n
– Were there specific questions addressed through the research?<\/div>\n
– Was the period of occupation and cultural affiliation of the site clearly explained? What<\/div>\n
archaeological cultures\/complexes are represented in the site(s) discussed?<\/div>\n
– Was the artifact collection adequately described and analyzed? What aspects of the<\/div>\n
collection were discussed?<\/div>\n
– Was the artifact collection adequately illustrated (through drawings or photos)?<\/div>\n
– Were the results of the analysis clearly presented?<\/div>\n
– Would the report be useful as a comparative document to someone studying related<\/div>\n
archaeological collections?<\/div>\n
– In your judgement, are there aspects of the analysis that were omitted and should have<\/div>\n
been discussed?<\/div>\n
– Were there any new questions raised through the analysis that could form the basis for<\/div>\n
future research? These may be identified by the authors, or they may be questions that<\/div>\n
occurred to you that the authors did not consider.<\/div>\n
Be sure to cite the analyzed article\/monograph as necessary, along with any other sources you<\/div>\n
use, and list them in a bibliography. APA style is preferred for in text citations and the<\/div>\n
bibliography. Your review should be double-spaced and approximately 1200 words in length,<\/div>\n
not including the bibliography. Please upload your assignment in Word or a compatible format<\/div>\n
