Each student is required to write up a research paper on Ethnobotany. Select a type of plant found in Hong Kong and examine how it is related to the human society and culture. You will approach your plant choices from the following perspectives (with mark distribution): i. It’s scientific name and natural history (15%) ii. A report of plant observation with photo (15%) iii. Human discovery and/or uses (30%) iv. Economic/Cultural values and the induced impacts (30%) v. Organization, Writing Style and referencing (10%) (Tips: Popular crops like Paddy Rice, Wheat, Rubber, and species that mentioned in lecture are not recommended for selection. You may consult the module lecturer for the plant choice before writing up the essay.) Essay limit: 2,500 words, with not less than 8 references (in-text citation needed) properly cited in the text and a bibliography at the end of the essay.
