Exploring the skill differences in top and non-leadership positions in software engineering Description: Leadership in work teams is very important in specific work environments and organizations involved in software production. The right person in a leadership position can elevate a team of professionals and produce high-quality results. Of course, leadership can be expressed through the possession of specific skills and combinations of skills that reflect an individual’s ability to lead a team and oversee a department, a product or a process. This thesis aims to investigate leadership in Software Engineering, through the analysis of job advertisements from various sources. The ultimate goal is to build Machine Learning models that will not only highlight the difference between leadership and non-leadership positions, using Interpretive Machine Learning, but also predict whether a position is a leader or not. The thesis will extend existing work on the topic by introducing more machine learning algorithms, preprocessing options, explainable AI packages and data sources. The student will first read relevant literature and previous work and will try to improve the results and performance metrics of the constructed models. Programming Languages/Desirable Knowledge: Python, Machine Learning, Statistics, Data Mining, Information Retrieval Notes: After discussion with the assistants and the professor responsible for the preparation, the thesis was characterized as having a more research character. The code generation part is ready from the student’s previous work and some model algorithms will be changed to produce the results, which will be done collaboratively with the assistants who have some models ready in the laboratory. Because there will be a partial report on the progress of the work, I am interested in such cooperation, which is why I have also uploaded the plan that was given to me as a guide. There is flexibility of deviation of 1-2 weeks, so the first part of the bibliographic study will be done on 8/1/2025.
