I’m currently a community college students and will be transferring to a university in the spring. I am striving to earn a bachelors degree in psychology and to later on earn my masters and doctorate degrees to one day become a clinical psychologist. I am a woman of South Asian descent so family is valued very highly in our community. However, mental health awareness/care is not a priority in this community and as a result I have personally seen many suffer because of this stigma. I want to break down these barriers and provide proper care for anyone who is suffering.
