Week 3 Assignment 1: Foundational Experimental Research Due: Sun Jul 27, 2025 11:59pmDue: Sun Jul 27, 2025 11:59pm

about eab for masters in ABA i need by 11:30 PMOverview

Applied behavior analysis is conceptually systematic, meaning that it uses interventions that are derived from basic science principles (Baer et al., 1968). As such, it is important for clinicians to understand these core principles in order to be flexible in their creation of behavioral technologies to change behavior. The focus of this assignment will be for you to compare two different behavior analytic theories and evaluate the seminal (i.e. historical) and modern (i.e. current) experimental literature.

Instructions

During the first three weeks, you have been introduced to the Experimental Analysis of Behavior and some basic theories/hypotheses that can help explain the phenomenon of behavior. Using the Week 3 Presentation Template [PPTX], you will create a five-minute presentation to compare and contrast two behavior analytic theories. You can record your presentation using the voice over recording option in Microsoft PowerPoint, or you can use a video recording software such as Zoom, Loom, or Google Meet. Make sure to address the following components:

  1. Slide One: What is the Experimental Analysis of Behavior?
    1. Provide a brief overview of the field of experimental analysis of behavior.
    2. Describe why EAB is important to the practice of behavior analysis.
  2. Slide Two: Origins of EAB Research.
    1. Describe the origins of EAB and its historical development.
    2. Introduce a key researcher and their contributions to the field.
  3. Slides Three and Four: Theory One and Two.
    1. Present each theory individually.
    2. Define the theory using behavior analytic terminology.
    3. Discuss where the theory originated, citing its seminal research.
  4. Slides Five and Six: Application of Theory One and Theory Two.
    1. Identify one article for each theory that uses it as a framework for a behavioral technology to change a behavior.
    2. Discuss similarities and differences in their generalized application based on these examples.
  5. Slide Seven: Comparison of Theory One and Two.
    1. Compare and contrast the theories in terms of critical features, axioms, and applications.
    2. Highlight any similarities and differences that exist.
  6. Slide Eight: Ethical Guidelines of Animal Research.
    1. Evaluate the ethical considerations and guidelines related to animal research citing the APA ethics guide for use of animals within research.
    2. Discuss the importance of adherence to ethical guidelines when conducting research in general.
  7. Slide Nine: Summary Conclusion.
    1. Summarize the main points of your presentation including the key features of your chosen theories.
    2. Highlight the contributions and significance of EAB research in understanding behavior.
    3. Include any personal reflections on the topic.
  8. Slide Ten: References.
    1. Include at least five scholarly, peer-reviewed references to support your evaluation of both theories.
    2. Ensure that the references cover a diverse range of sources related to EAB research.

Additional Requirements

  • Written communication: Written communication is free of errors that detract from the overall message.
  • APA formatting: References and citations are formatted according to current APA style guidelines. Refer to Evidence and APALinks to an external site. for citing and referencing tips.
  • References: At least five scholarly resources.

Refer to the rubric to ensure that you understand the grading criteria for this assignment.

Competencies Measured

By successfully completing this assignment, you will demonstrate your proficiency in the following course competencies and rubric criteria:

  • Competency 1: Evaluate research in the experimental analysis of behavior.
    • Compare two specific theories from the experimental analysis of behavior.
  • Competency 2: Distinguish features of experimental analysis of behavior (EAB) research from applied behavior analysis (ABA) research and identify features of translational research that bridge both types.
    • Describe the field of the experimental analysis of behavior.
  • Competency 3: Identify experimental analysis of behavior (EAB) origins in current applied behavior analysis (ABA) and translational research and in current ABA practice.
    • Describe the origin of the experimental analysis of behavior.
  • Competency 4: Evaluate the core ethical requirements of behavior analytic research.
    • Evaluate the ethical guidelines of the animal research.
  • Competency 5: Communicate in a manner that is scholarly and consistent with expectations for professionals in the field of psychology.
    • Create a well-organized presentation that follows assignment guidelines.
    • Demonstrate compliance with APA style, citation, and referencing guidelines.
