an exposé about The New Tech Cold War: How U.S. Fear of China Is Reshaping the Global Technology Industry
Identification of the subject:My research examines how the United States’ growing concern over China’s technological progress influences the global tech sector. It focuses on recent U.S. policies, such as export bans and investment restrictions, i aim to limit China’s access to key technologies. My study explores how these actions affect international companies, reshape supply chains, and reflect broader geopolitical tensions in the tech industry.
Personal Motivation and Rationale: Growing up between different cultural contexts has given me a unique perspective on how global power struggles affect various regions of the world. I became increasingly curious about why some countries lead in innovation, while others are deeply impacted by decisions made far away. This personal experience sparked my interest in the intersection of technology, politics, and economics. The current U.S.–China tech rivalry, especially since 2017, is a powerful example of how fear and national security concerns reshape global markets. By examining these dynamics, my research contributes to a deeper understanding of how international policy decisions impact global innovation, business strategy, and economic development.
Research question:
My research explores whether U.S. fear of China’s technological rise has significantly shaped restrictive policy measures and argues that these actions have disrupted global supply chains, influenced business decisions, and transformed competition in the international technology sector.
