Instructions
Write a research paper on the research project that you just completed regarding your thesis about contributing factors to literacy practices. The paper should follow the outline below.
The work that we have done in the past 2 weeks (the interview questions, the reporting of the data, the analysis) is part of the paper. For example, if you wrote up the analysis and posted on discussions and you are satisfied that the write-up covers everything that is relevant, you can use that analysis as part of the final paper. The summary of the data that I asked you to submit could also be used in the paper IF it is properly summarized. I look forward to reading your final papers.
Introduction
Introductory paragraph that introduces the general topic and leads to the thesis statement, e.g., The socioeconomic status of the family has an impact on/is related to the literacy practices in the family.
Literature Review (what research has been done on this topic)
There is a literature review that summarizes research supporting this thesis.
Citations: there are both in-text and bibliographic citations for all works cited. The citations follow APA style.
Research Design (what I did)
There is a paragraph explaining the methodology/research design, e.g., To explore whether socioeconomic status is a factor influencing literacy practices in the family, I interviewed 10 families in Queens, NY. Interviewees were asked questions about their socioeconomic status such as their average annual income and/or neighborhood in which they lived. Interviewees also were asked to describe literacy practices in the home, such as whether parents read to their children at home. Responses were analyzed for patterns that would suggest a relationship between socioeconomic status and literacy practices in the home.
Results (What I found – the data and the analysis)
The results of the interviews were reported. That is, the results were analyzed and summarized.
Interpretation & Implications
The results and analysis are interpreted by the author taking into consideration what prior studies have shown.
Conclusion
Conclusion: In the author’s opinion and considering prior research, the results show x, y, and z.
