The critical review of the articles
has to consist of the following elements:
1.
Which research question does the author seek to
answer?
2.
Which answer does (s)he give to this question? Which central hypothesis/es does the author present?
In other words: what is/are the main argument(s)/explanation(s) provided in the
article?
3. Which concepts make up the dependent variable(s) and the independent variable(s) of this
explanation? In other words: which cause(s) lead to which effect(s)?
4.
Which empirical evidence
does the author present to test this theoretical argument empirically?
5.
Compare the question, the
argumentation and hypotheses, and the type of empirical evidence with one or
several of the other articles.
Do not write boring summaries and paraphrases, but instead engage with the arguments of the text. Summaries of
articles do not count as a paper and get graded with a zero.
