Literature review
**4-5 pages long, based on sources (pdf’s will be listed in documents),
*summarize what was learned from the articles read and cite them in the text of your paper using your closest approximation of APA style.
*Give some thought to the organization of the studies you discuss, using the “funnel approach” or some other logical presentation.
*finish the review with an overall conclusion and a hypothesis that could be tested in an empirical study.
More specific instructions for lit. Review :
- After the title you should have an introductory paragraph. This should introduce what you are talking about and why it is important. Maybe include some background research or basic statistics, such as “90% of college students have this problem.”
- After that paragraph – several paragraphs where you summarize acticles. This is the heart of the literature review. organized, in something like the funnel method Start with general and move to specific, or start with early research and move to later research.
- After you have reviewed all the research you came across, you should have one last paragraph that is an overall summary and conclusion where you put it all together. Your hypothesis will follow, and your Method section will go after that (for the assignment that was due this week).
- At the end you should have a reference section, under the heading of “References” where you list your sources alphabetically. In the body of the paper you should say something like “Johnson, 2010” and in the reference section you have the full citation: name, year published, title, journal article, volume, page numbers.
Methods section
** 6-7 pages long
**The method section describes how you would do the empirical study that has been informed by your literature review.
The Method section include both Participants and Procedure (such as rating scales/questionnaires).
This is essentially a research proposal, a plan that specifies exactly how you would do the study
Questionnaires should be described in the Method section and presented in full in an Appendix at the end of the paper, after your references.
