Put together a plan for an entire season of practice and training for a sport and level of your
choice. Your assignment should total around 8-9 pages and include three parts:
OVERVIEW OF SEASON (1-2 PAGES)
1) Research a collegiate or high school sport calendar (corresponding to the sport you’ve
chosen).
2) Using this calendar and frequency of games, develop your own calendar to plan your
practice frequency and length.
3) Explain the rationale for your decisions. Be sure to consider how different parts of the
season might require different training.

Include both your created calendar and your explanations in this first section of your
project. This can be done in a table format if desired.
GENERAL PRACTICE PLAN (2 PAGES)
Give a general layout of what two different types of practices might look like (i.e., one
focused on particular skills, one focused on developing plays, one conditioning).
2) Each practice blueprint should be about 1 page:
a. Break down, in detail, the timing of each practice (include warmups, cool downs,
any conversation with the team as a whole, etc.).
b. Explain why you picked this particular type of practice.
c. Explain the rationale for the order of activities and what your main objectives of
this type of practice are.
TECHNICAL SKILL LESSON PLANS (FIVE 1-PAGE PLANS – 5 PAGES TOTAL)
1) Develop plans to teach five technical skills relevant to the sport you chose.
2) In half a page, lay out the actual activity or series of activities to teach that skill.
3) In another half a page, offer a brief explanation of the intent and rationale for how those
activities will train the athlete in this particular skill.
Throughout your project, you should integrate the course materials as applicable.
Also, be sure to consider how this project reflects your coaching philosophy and your faith and
include it where appropriate in the rationale for certain decisions. Your paper should use APA
formatting (including cover page and reference list; no abstract required).
