imprtan read : Good work fixing this up. This essay has a much clearer theme and structure. I would just like to reiterate that simplicity is king (or queen). This essay introduces a lot of large concepts (like biopolitics and state power versus human agency) that need to be unpacked and explained themselves. If your reader is not entirely sure what those concepts mean, they they will struggle to understand your argument. Therefore, they either need to be explained or put in simpler terms.
Your task for this assignment is to write a 500-word essay (2 pages double-spaced) that posits and supports an original literary argument about the excerpt we read of Sharon Bala’s The Boat People (pg 1-112).
Your essay should include an introduction with an expanded thesis statement that consists of an original interpretive claim or argument about the text (more information about this will be discussed in lecture). This thesis statement should be 1-3 sentences. Please underline your thesis statement/argument in your essay.
Then, using at least TWO points of evidence from the text, explain and support your claim. This evidence should come in the form of specific observations or citations of scenes or quotes from the book, along with explanations of how they support your argument.
Your essay should have some sort of conclusion, but you do not need a full conclusion paragraph.
This is your opportunity to get creative with your analysis and your thesis statement/claim will be graded based on originality and creativity.
Please write in grammatically complete and concise sentences, and remember to use the course readings to help make your piece as analytically precise and clear as possible.
