This assignment asks you to:
- Examine five work relationships you have experienced in your professional environment (for example, with a manager, colleague, client, or team member).
- For each relationship, evaluate two types of trust:
- Task Trust: the degree of confidence you have in the person’s professional or technical abilities (for example, “I am confident they will do their job well”).
- Relationship Trust: the degree of confidence you have in the person’s intentions, ethics, behavior, and honesty (for example, “I know they are fair and honest with me”).
- Then indicate the trust level for each relationship, such as:
- High/High → you trust both their skills and their intentions
- Low/Low → you trust neither their skills nor their intentions
- High/Low → you trust their skills but not their intentions
- and other possible combinations
Important: Do not use people’s real names, but you may refer to their position or work relationship (for example, “Project Manager,” “Finance Team Member,” “Sales Colleague”) to clarify which relationship you are describing without revealing personal identities.
You shoiuld prepare a report of up to two pages that includes:
- A scatter plot or bubble chart with Task Trust on one axis (e.g., Low to High) and Relationship Trust on the other axis (e.g., Low to High), plotting the five relationships appropriately
- A written explanation discussing why you assigned each relationship its trust levels, what factors influenced your evaluation, and suggestions for how you might improve trust in these relationships in the future
The goal of this assignment is to help you visually and analytically reflect on how you experience and evaluate professional and interpersonal trust in your work relationships, and what actions you can take to strengthen it going forward.
