Goal:
I am a guy 25 years old uh I am in the military and a corpsman is my rate. I am also done with a degree in college b.s in health science.
As you study for this class, topics covered in the the assigned readings, lecture presentations, and/or videos may provide you with insights into something from your personal life. The purpose of this writing assignment is for you to find a meaningful connections between your personal life and concepts covered in class and in the text. The focus of this Paper will be Later Life Experiences – Middle Childhood through Death.
Assignment:
Describe at least three (3) events or aspects of your personal life about which your understanding has been expanded due to studying for this class and write about how what you learned connects to or informs you about this event or personal aspect. [HINT: Many student use more than 3 events OR use three events which are rich with experience] Most students will select closer to six events or aspects of their personal life to discuss. You may include memories of your own childhood or accounts of others of your childhood, experiences of your own child, niece, etc., or anticipation of future events (becoming a parent, birth of a child, supporting families as a health care practitioner or teacher, etc.). You should be intimately connected to the events and individuals in order to provide the level of detail and connection needed.

YOU WILL NOT HAVE EXPERIENCED ALL OF THESE DEVELOPMENTAL PERIODS, HOWEVER YOU MAY EXPLORE THEM AS ANTICIPATION OR LOOKING TO THE FUTURE.
There are MANY topics for you to choose and reflect on. Clear connections using citations to the material in the textbook. Include APA formatted in text citations including page numbers for the source of the content and a full APA reference at the end of the paper. Students must also apply content accurately to their own developmental experiences. If you need additional material to connect to the content, I suggest you interview individuals in your life who can share with you their experience (if available).
Directions for writing up the report: There are three parts to this assignment:
- Describe events, experiences, or aspects of your personal life for which you have made this personal connection with class material. This could be about you, a friend, or a family member. Describe it in a manner that gives enough detail so you can clearly show how it relates to the class content.
- Describe the concepts, research and/or theory related to your life experience. Provide specific quotations from the textbook and other materials, using APA in text citation (author, page number (s); video title; lecture topic). A minimum of 6 APA citations must be successfully utilized from various portions of the course (i.e. Early Childhood, Infant physical development, Infant Cognitive development, Prenatal Development…) Use the PDF copy of Textbook (available in Start Here Module) for page numbers as the Canvas pages do not include page number.
- Discuss the insights and understandings you gained through applying course content to life experiences described.
Paper Length: Minimum of 3 pages, double spaced, 12 point standard font, APA Formatted. Minimum page length does not include cover page and reference list. Include introduction and conclusion paragraphs.
