MSc Thesis: The Impact of Fenestration on Thermal Comfort and Resident Preferences in High-Rise Residential Buildings in Erbil City

Assignment Overview:

This assignment is for my Master’s thesis at Salahaddin University in Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq — College of Engineering, Department of Architectural Engineering.

Scope of Work:

• Write the thesis from the Title Page up to the end of Chapter Two only.
• Do not write Chapters 3, 4, or 5 — those will be completed by me after I finish the data collection phase.
• Include the References, Appendices, and Publications sections — but only based on content related to Chapters 1 and 2.
• Note: Data collection has not been conducted yet, so the rest of the chapters will follow later.

1. “MSc Thesis Requirements and Instructions.docx” – This document outlines the official university formatting and academic requirements.
   – You must follow these guidelines exactly (structure, layout, font, referencing style, page numbering, etc.).
2. Draft Chapter 1 and 2 (AI-generated) – This is a rough draft I created using AI tools for the topic to be understood.
   – Do not copy or reuse it directly — the quality is not acceptable.
   – You may use any of the references included only if they are accurate, relevant, and recent. Prefer better academic sources and more up to date if available.
3. Three Sample MSc Theses (PDFs) – These are completed theses from previous students in my department who received high grades.
   – Use them strictly for formatting and structural guidance only (tone, style, structure).
   – Do not copy any content, as their research topics are different from mine.

Important Requirements:

• Use only Scopus-indexed or peer-reviewed academic sources, published within the last 5 years.
• Apply Harvard referencing style consistently for in-text citations and bibliography.
• Include References, Appendices, and Publications — relevant to Chapters 1 and 2 only.
• All content must be original, manually written, and have plagiarism under 10% (Turnitin-checked).
• No AI-generated content is allowed.
• The complete thesis must not exceed 120 pages total, including title, preliminary pages, chapters, and all final sections.
• From the Title Page to the end of Chapter Two, the page count should be between 50–65 pages.
• The References, Appendices, and Publications are not included in the 50–65 page count.

Visuals & Tables:

• Include relevant figures and tables throughout Chapters 1 and 2 to support the content.
• All figures and tables must follow the formatting rules in the attached instruction file (captioning, numbering, referencing in text).
• Include a summary table of the 20 reviewed studies (PRISMA-style) in Chapter Two — this is mandatory for the Literature Review section.
  • The table should summarize the study title, authors, year, methodology, key findings, and relevance to the thesis.
