Topic: How has globalization influenced collective bargaining strategies and labor relations in the public sector in the United States, and what implications does this have for public administration and governance?
An applied research paper of about 7/8pages, including references, typed, double-spaced (12 font), 1-inch margin, succinctly written, must be submitted by July 17th. Topics are your choices.
The paper must reflect the materials in the text, the required readings, lectures, textbooks, and other requirements such as assigned movies. It must be well researched, well written, and well organized, with a minimum of 6 and maximum of 9 references/sources, but trade magazines like ‘playboy’ or ‘people’ may not be used, and referencing 1-2 newspapers may be acceptable, but no more. The Chicago Manual Style of Public Administration Review (PAR) is required/preferred. You are required to use any PAR or POR article as a model for organization, writing, and referencing/citation of the paper. APA will be accepted. Some Guidelines and Instructions on Paper:
Organize your paper (use the Rose garden example—in a rose garden, you are assigned to pick rose flowers and write an essay bout roses. You will pick many different colors of roses, separate them, organize them by color, or shape, or smell, and then write with an introduction, then briefly about each, their applications, use for various purposes, …..and conclude). Use references appropriately and in PAR/POR style only, keep endnotes to a minimum—they are for additional information you do not want to include in the text/body of the paper only. Use quotations in reasonable amount—do not over use them—and give exact page numbers for the source/reference; if quotations are longer than 5 lines, you must indent them; do not put period before closing parentheses of references; never overuse a specific reference, even if you like it a lot. Use double space, 12 fonts, and one-inch margin; write professionally and competently. Use a PAR or POR article as a model for your writing purposes. APA style is acceptable.
Always use your own writing, even if it is not that great, and never borrow someone else’s
without proper citation and…..and never copy another source as your own, as it will be against academic integrity, called plagiarism, and, , subject to university policy sanctions—read the University Policies and rules on academic integrity and its violations. Also, never use (copy, etc.) another student’s exams or papers, or even your own papers and exams you had written and submitted for any other courses. We professors may be busy, but we will know if a work submitted is copied or not…respect your own skills and dignity and that of your professor’s judgments. I always want to help my students learn with excellence, think and act professionally, and perform with honor and integrity, very simple but sound.
