Each question/prompt is listed with a number. There may be several parts of the question/prompt, but you will answer it as one whole answer. Quizzes with more than one prompt will be labeled 1.), 2.) etc.

Instructions (read carefully):

Answer Both Questions:

1.) What were the factors and advantages that led the Europeans to industrialize? What factors and advantages led Britain to industrialize first? What were some of the technological innovations that enabled the industrial Revolution? What were the consequences (economic, social, political and environmental) of the Industrial Revolution?

2.) Compare and contrast Robert Owen’s Industrial Socialism and some of the ideas of French pre-Marxist “Utopian socialism” (Saint Simon, Charles Fourier, Flora Tristan, Lous Blanc, and Proudhon) with Karl Marx’s “scientific socialism.” Why do you think Marx’s ideas became the dominant brand of socialism in the late 19th and 20th centuries?
