We are to explore two very powerful external systems in our life via this activity. We are to explore what the impacts of these two external systems have on how we see the “similarities” or “differences” of the “others” in our community and the rest of the world. For this fun activity, you are to write a paper on the politico-legal systems. You are to look for policy, legislation, or court decisions that have shaped our viewpoints about different groups. It can be on a local, provincial, national, or even international level. You are to provide a critical review of the impact of the politico-legal system of your choice on shaping our views about different groups. Your paper should focus on the controversy of how a politico-legal system views a specific group of individuals. The focus should be on a group of people, as opposed to an issue. For example, if you are to examine how the US Supreme Court in 2022 overturned the previously held Roe v Wade decision, make sure you focus on the group, such as the female population, as opposed to the issue, such as the abortion rights. Remember, the paper is about how a GROUP is being viewed by the politico-legal system of your choice, as opposed to an ISSUE held by the system. We will explore further in our video presentations on how to approach this fun paper. Stay tuned!! Your paper should be 6 to 8 pages long only, excluding references. The paper should be doubled-spaced, using Times New Roman, Font 12 only. You can earn up to 15 travel points for this activity. The grading of your paper will look at (1) the choice of your topic, (2) the depth of your analysis and critique, (3) your supporting evidence, (4) your APA style, and (5) the length of your paper. Be sure to cite your references. Please use academic references within the past 10 years only. Have at least 6 academic references for the paper.
