For the Final paper, each student should pick a movie, TV show, broadway show or entertainment production and discuss its creation, production and distribution with an emphasis on the creators of the work and the decisions they made during its production. Particular focus should examine what was the creative and business environment in the industry prior to the work and what about the work was creative from a business/creative perspective. What influence did it have on work going forward? Make sure to discuss who produced the work, what company or individual financed, developed and distributed it, creative participants (stars, writers, developers), shooting or production details, and distribution information. Key areas to consider are the forces behind the creation of the work: what consideration did the producers of the piece give to the time or social/industry context the work was created in? Did the creators respond any changes in the way the business was organized and how did this change impact the choices they made? Who was the audience it was created for, and how did these influence the way it was marketed and the way it was distributed? As well, please contextualize the work with other works of the time – how were these works different, and what made the work you chose unique.
