From Cold War Networks to Cognitive Warfare: Tracing the Miltary Origins and Weoponisation of Social Media.

This research essay is to expand on a research proposal. Refer to the attachment of that 750 word paper. Also included below are the comments by the tutor on which direction the final paper should go. Note include primary sources over secondary where possible. The question this paper is meant to answer is :How do the military origins of the internet during the Cold War continue to influence the weoponisation of social media today, and what are the implications for democratic societies?Below are the comments from the Tutor on how to expand the paper from the original proposal to the final paper.”This is a great start, and a very cool topic, I like the notion of memes and cognitive warfare exploiting and vulnerability in democratic societies. Perhaps it would be good to start the essay with this insight or assertion. Perhaps you could develop this concept of mimetic warfare with recourse to examples and evidence.I would like to see the argument emerge from analysis of primary materials rather that recycling concepts from the secondary literature”.
