Labor Act stipulates 40hrs per week
The AFRS shift workers work 52 & in some cases 56 hrs a week. Therefore, we propose that the additional hours be paid in overtime. Additionally, some firefighters are being paid beneath the minimum wage.
The overtime pay is calculated as follow : grade g-l 20$ per hour, grade a-e 30$. The officer I charge of the shift is responsible for submitting the additional working hours ever month to the CFO, deputy and financial manager via their FSO for approval.
Allowance
The operators receive an allowance of 30$ a day for the additional responsibility. The officer I charge of the shift is responsible for submitting the additional working hours ever month to the CFO, deputy and financial manager via their FSO for approval.
Senior managers CFO, DCFO, FSO’s & Finance Manager be paid an allowance of 300$ monthly for the management of such opperations.
Increase in staffing
Request a recruitment of an additional 14 persons to strengthen the various divisions within the AFRS.

Fire Prevention & Training division (minimum requirements 3)
Financial and Administrative division
Additionally, the AFRS intend to incorporate a fourth watch. In order to accomplish this and additional 14 persons are needed and will entail:
1 fire sub officer
3 LFF
11 FF
To development of the fourth watch will reduce the working hours and elimate the overtime.
Annual physical exercises & Random drug and urine test
Fire fighters and fire officers seeking to benefit from this arrangement must sign on for random drug and urine test policy. This will safeguard the government from being potentialyl sued for unprofessional behaviors and activities while on duty.
Physical assessments is must for persons performing operational functions within the AFRS. Our regulator Air Safety Support Internation are keen on knowing that the persons forming part of a initial response are capable to do so and recommend that these assessments be conducted annually. This is also stipulated in ICAO Fire Service Manual.
