International/Multinational Corporations Project Managers Regarding the Use of
English Translated Project Management Tools.

The
current problem is the significant communication barriers in project management
that arise from cultural and linguistic differences, particularly in globalized
teams. This issue hinders effective collaboration and can lead to
misunderstandings, delays, and project failures. The problem primarily affects
project managers and team members working in multinational or cross-cultural
environments. According to Amoah and Marimon (2021), this issue is prevalent in
international projects, where stakeholders come from diverse cultural
backgrounds and speak different native languages.
Smith
& Ruiz (2020) observed issues arising from socio-cultural distance in
global projects, particularly focusing on language diversity. It is noted that
differences in language preferences, proficiency, and interpretation can create
barriers and require additional effort. Teams with members speaking different
first languages other than English tend to experience more conflict and lower
satisfaction and cohesion levels.
Almashhadani
and Almashhadani (2023) noted the importance and benefits of effective
communication on project management teams.
Specifically, Almashhadani and Almashhadani (2023) stated that the use
of English translated materials can assist international teams and can improve
communication outcomes. For the purpose of this study, the researcher plans to
explore the perceptions of project managers, who are employed by
international/multinational corporations, who work with project management
professionals dispersed in different geographical locations (outside of the
USA) about the use of English translated project management tools. Given the
complexities associated with managing international project management teams,
it is important to explore how communication challenges can be reduced by using
English translated materials.
