Part 1 – Background information (approx. 600-words) Identify a nursing intervention that has interested you in practice. Formulate a research question based on this. You could use scoping search skills learned during library session to find current and appropriate evidence. Part 2 – Search strategy (approx. 500-words) In this section, you need to use database searching skills taught in the library sessions to find three primary research papers that focuses on the selected intervention from a similar context. Conduct a literature search using MEDLINE or CINAHL database to identify three current (ideally within last 10 years) primary research articles. State the database used and discuss the rationale for choosing the database. Demonstrate search strategy by using PICO or PEO question framework to the selected topic. Explain search terms/ keywords used. Demonstrate the application of Boolean Operators. Explain the inclusion and exclusion criteria used. Explain how you have narrowed down to three primary articles and support this with PRISMA flowchart. PRISMA chart should be included in the main body of the assignment. Ensure all steps of the search strategy is supported with appropriate evidence. Part 3 – Critical Appraisal (approx. 1500 words) Critical appraisal involves an exploration of the strengths and weaknesses of the paper. You should use critical appraisal skills gained from seminar sessions to critically appraise three (selected) primary articles. You could save 3 copies of the Caldwell tool and use it to critically appraise each of the identified primary research paper. You may include one of these (completed appraisal) in the appendix, but this is not essential. You will then develop your annotation by commenting on some of the contents you have discussed in completing the critical appraisal tool (approx. 500-words for each article). For example, you could include critical appraisal on aspects such as ethical issues, sample selection, sample size, data collection method, and data analysis. Summary of findings (approx. 600 words) Under this part, you should summarise the results of all three papers by identifying two to three themes or key findings from each paper. Include the strength and weakness that you found on critical appraisal that might be affecting the results. Part 5. Implications for practice (approx. 400-words) Briefly explain whether the evidence (findings) that you have identified can be implemented and disseminated into practice.
