Children are one of the most vulnerable groups in migration, they go on challenging journeys to be able to have the opportunity of a better future. Several factors affect these children, violence, poverty, the need for a better life, or an opportunity to get out of their lives in Mexico. Looking for education and to make their parents proud, these children are fearless and would do anything to survive, including staying silent when hurt.
In this essay, I will be addressing and discussing the hidden crisis of children who go through migration and what their experiences are like.
Sexual abuse of unaccompanied minors at the U.S.- U.S.-Mexico border is more common and less addressed by the media. Children are vulnerable because of their age and the circumstances they are in. They become the prey of traffickers, smugglers, and sometimes individuals who are supposed to care for them in the facilities they are sent to.
