Summary:

The transition from the old system to the new system requires you resolve several outstanding business, technical, and project issues. This assessment asks you to put together components of a conversion plan switching from one system to another, address contingency plans, and assess costs and benefits to ensure the new system was meeting the necessary requirements. You must present these analyses to your client in a video format! This assessment tests your skills of communication, problem solving, decision making, listening skills, negotiation, and assertiveness.

Scenario:

Mystic Brewery, a local start-up, is ready for the final system implementation. The integrated system includes features like a process management project planner, inventory management, POS interface, accounting module, and marketing communication. Your role is to investigate migration plans, recommend a conversion strategy, propose a business contingency plan, assess costs and benefits.

Purpose:

Part One: PowerPoint presentation:

Part Two: Video Presentation

Record a 5 to 8-minute video summarizing key details of the presentation. Once you have completed your visual presentation, record a video presentation as if you were presenting it to your clients. Create a video of yourself giving the presentation. You can use the Record Slide Show capabilities in PowerPoint to record yourself giving the presentation. You can also use a screen recording program such as Screencastify (www.screencastify.com) or Screencast-o-matic (screencast-o-matic.com) to record and create your video. Other recording options are acceptable. Save your video as a separate file so it can be submitted to your instructor.

If you have a video camera and would like to record yourself giving your presentation, that is acceptable as well. Be sure both you and the presentation are visible in the video.

Whatever you use to record your presentation, please save it into a common video format such as .MP4 that your instructor can play. You may also host on YouTube or other streaming services, if you host externally, please provide that link to your instructor.

The video should be a summary of the key details of your presentation. This video should demonstrate you advanced understanding and effective usage of interpersonal skills that embody professional demeanor. You will want to demonstrate your communication skills, problem solving, decision making, listening, negotiation, and assertiveness.

  • Address the benefits of the to-be system and certainty of the benefits.
  • Address the costs of transition and certainty of costs.
  • Discuss data-driven decision-making.
  • Highlight the iterative nature of the project, focusing on meeting the client and customer needs while aiming for continuous improvement post-implementation.
  • An ideal timeframe for this presentation would be between 5 and 8 minutes.
