Question 1: Select a recent research article (published 2018 or later) from a key journal in your specialization or area of interest you identified for your Week 10 assignment. Seek out an article in which the method and design are either generic qualitative inquiry or quantitative regression.
For your post, briefly describe the subject of the article, the research method and design (i.e., generic qualitative inquiry, quantitative regression), the sample population, the phenomenon (qualitative) or variables (quantitative), and the theoretical framework.
Question 2: Review your discussion post from Week 1. Now that you have completed the course, what have you learned that has changed your understanding on how theory is used to advance knowledge and to support and frame research? Describe how theory is viewed differently when the study approach is a qualitative method versus a quantitative method. Based on your current understanding of the literature around your topic, discuss whether future research on your topic requires a quantitative or qualitative method.
Question 3: Hiring the right person for the right job is a key step in creating a successful and sustainable organization. But it is just the first step. Once employees have been successfully recruited they must be managed appropriately so that they will be motivated to stay and grow with the organization.
So far, we have reviewed a number of issues, from recruiting to selection to managing and reviewing employees over time. As a final part of your consulting assignment, top management has requested a final report to help move the organization in the direction of becoming an “employer of choice.”
Based on your readings and research to date, what are the key elements in each of these steps to retain key employees? Explain your rationale for the elements to be included in a hiring and retention plan, referencing appropriate research. These elements include:
- Recruiting employees, including the recruiting message
- Hiring process—does the process motivate people or turn them away?
- Onboarding process—are new employees made to feel welcome?
- Management and leadership—do employees experience effective and motivating leadership?
- Evaluation—is the employee evaluation process seen as fair? Does it encourage employees to grow within the organization?
- Other factors that you find valuable in helping to motivate and retain employees (be specific).
In your response, be sure to cite, discuss, and reference the readings from this week in a way that clearly demonstrates that you have read and reflected on each as they relate to “becoming a doctoral.” Follow APA style and formatting guidelines.
