topic. This chapter has six critical components, the general introduction, the theoretical framework, literature review
method, empirical studies, and locating your study in the literature. This chapter needs to be in APA 7th style.o Literature Review IntroductionYou should have a clear and general opening that invites the reader into your chapter. Introduce a few of the
major ideas that will arise. Restate your research question and purpose. Define key terms that you will use
moving forward. Make your argument clear from the beginning so your paper takes shape and perspective.o Organizational Mapping/ Road Map Paragraph (last paragraph of your literature review introduction)-
-Provide your audience with an organizational map of how the chapter is organized. Include a guide of the
writing and the chapter layout that will follow. This component doesn’t require a heading.o Theoretical FrameworkThis section of your chapter should explicate the theory(ies) you are using. It should identify the foundations
of your framework(s) and some of the major theorists. It should also define and flesh out major tenets that
will guide your research.o Literature Review Method (also known as the research design; this will be your Chapter 2 for those
students who are doing an extensive literature review)Details are provided about article selection, including search engines, and search terms. Seminal and
contemporary peer-reviewed literature. Relevance of your selection to your research topic/question.o Empirical Studies/Literature Review Findings/Scholarly Writing/Conceptual framework this will
be your Chapter 35This section should provide a clear discussion of what is being talked about in the field regarding your topic.
In this section, you introduce some of the major voices and perspectives in the field regarding your question.
Describe some of the critical issues in the field, the theories ascribed to, and some of the research that has
been done. Think about having four-five major subtopics in this section. Discuss empirical studies and the
critique of the empirical studies in this section.Empirical Studies CritiqueThis is not a separate section.Complete a critical review of at least four-five research studies. A tip might be to find at least one empirical
study per subtopic. With your critique of empirical studies it is essential to bring your argument through.
Each critique of the four to five empirical study has five components.o Summary: Summarize what the article was about. Details are needed on methodology, location,
population, findings etc. Use the empirical research matrix.o Gems: Include the most important gems of what a study found. Inform your audience what this study
offered to the field.o Gaps and Silences: Identify the gaps in the research including the misinformation, assumptions,
inconsistencies, and aspects that are biased and shored- changed. Include any silences. Name what is
neglected, missing, overlooked. What don’t you know after reading the piece? Use your theoretical
framework lens to help you articulate these gaps and silences as well.o Push Further: Discuss how the piece could have been further developed and improved by building on
gems, gaps, and/or silences.o Implications/Impact on your study: Then write about the research implications. What does this piece
help you to think about for your own research? What will you take from this literature and incorporate it into
your own work? What will you build from and extend from this research? What will you do the same? What
will you do differently? Where do you want to fill in the gaps? What silences do you want to fill-in?o Locating my Study in the Literature Review (Conclusion)This section closes your literature review by providing a summary and overview of what this chapter was
about. Find some major contributions that your work will make and how it will locate itself in the discussions
