One may believe that everyone is born with empathy, however, research has been completed which states that empathy is a learned behavior, even though it is inborn. This can explain why everyone does not have the same reaction when presented with the same or similar situations. This can also explain how when young someone may be less empathetic than later in life when comprehension is more developed. Regardless, empathy is a needed skill/trait whether faced with a personal or professional situation.
For the assignment, this week, discuss a personal or professional situation in which empathy was required, how it was applied, and the result. Also, knowing what you know now, would you have changed your response to have a more beneficial result? If so, describe what you would have done differently. If not, why not? Be sure to include learned knowledge from your readings and research.
