The problem ideally will pertain to genuine academic interests that you hold.You must develop your integrative reflection in terms of the learning objectives and assignment prescriptions of UNST 3900, which require you to delve into specific learning from one discipline and to integrate that learning with specific learning from another discipline and with actual experiences or observations that illuminate the learning, all in the interest of addressing the complex problem on which you are working. Note that in the integrative reflection you are not necessarily looking to solve for all time the research problem on which your are working, though you may propose solutions. Your cross-disciplinaryshould clarify aspects of the problem as you demonstrate the ability to use specific learning from courses in your minor fields of study. Some of you may already have an issue or concern on which you’ve worked in disciplinary courses; you may have written papers or executed studies from a perspective that corresponds in some way to the discipline (e.g., Psychology, Sociology) of the course. If you’re still interested in this topic, you may take it forward here, develop it further in an interdisciplinary manner through which you cross the boundaries of the discipline under which you originally wrote it. You may also have come across an interesting problem for exploration as you wrote the reflective characterizations of your course learning in the previous assignment. The caveat is that you must make significant use of your learning in courses in at least two of your minors. Similarly, if you’re interested in a current issue from a larger context, such as the problem of the highly negative consequences of false advertising on FACEBOOK, in addressing it you must integrate specific learning across two of your minor fields of study. Your goal for this initial foray into your integrative reflection is to determine a problem that interests you and that is sufficiently focused for you to treat it The idea is to deal with it substantively through recourse to specific learning from courses in your minors and from your own unique experience with aspects of the problem, and including at least two secondary sources and corresponding bibilography.
