Describe a time when you changed your mind about a particular personal belief or opinion, either because you discovered a new set of facts, or else someone either deliberately or accidentally caused you to take another perspective.

After you have told your story (and you can of course make one up, I’m looking for good writing most of all), explain why you think some people, or most people, have a hard time accepting new information or points of view, even if the information is true, or they would benefit by a change in attitude. What are the the best ways of approaching someone to get that individual or group to see things a different way? What works, and what would certainly backfire?

A couple of tips. First, be specific. You don’t have to use real names or anything, but good writing uses details (real or invented). Second, 500-750 words is roughly 2-3 pages. If you only have one page, come up with another one. If you find yourself on page five, stop writing. If you like this topic and want to write more, that’s great, but if it’s too long that cuts into the time I have to give someone else’s work the attention it deserves. 

Do not do any outside research for this assignment. Do not submit a paper you wrote for another class.
