Cultural Analysis Paper

• Select a specific culture or subculture that you are interested in or would like to learn more about. Clearly identify this culture and begin your research journey. How will you learn more about this culture? Are there ways for you to observe the culture objectively? Think about how you could accomplish this. 

• After you have begun your research, think about what elements stand out for you in your selected culture. During class, we will have discussed Hofstede’s theories or approach on cultural values. You will need to apply these concepts directly to your chosen culture, and from there you will begin your full analysis. 

• Alongside an exploration of Hofstede’s values, you will need to include at least two other theories from the class. Make sure to explicitly state when these theories are included. It is important to never assume your audience’s knowledge level. 

• In your analysis, I want you to think creatively about the types of sources that you will use. For example, I expect you to implement source material to help support your ideas, more than just articles or academic journals. Think about how you could access interviews, photos, artwork, or other means of gaining information. 

• At the end of your paper, I want you to leave the reader with a central observation or key takeaway regarding your chosen culture. 

• I expect you to follow formal writing guidelines. Ensure that you have an effective introduction and conclusion; furthermore, provide in text citations when referring to specific theories in MLA format alongside a works cited page. 

• The cultural analysis needs to be 4-6 pages in length– this means full pages.

• Create a presentation that follows along with your final cultural analysis paper. 

• The main goal of this portion of the assignment is to verbally discuss how you approached this assignment and the information that you gathered. 

• Utilize images and text to help support your ideas. 

• Ensure to include citations to indicate where information came from. 

• You will record yourself giving this presentation and upload into ASULearn. (SPEAKER NOTES)
