They are both movements of Bach’s Brandenburg Concertos. This first video is Brandenburg Concerto #5 and the second video is Brandenburg Concerto #6.
Report must be a comparison/contrast between both performances.
Begin your report by describing the instruments utilized. Always use the proper term for each instrument.
The next thing to focus on is the melody and the various themes. The Baroque period has unique characteristics that are exemplified in this piece. State how they are present in these pieces.
After writing about the melody focus on the dynamics of each movement.
Is there polyphonic texture? Where and how?
Is there imitation between the instruments? Where and how?
How do the two pieces compare/ contrast in mood?
Tempo comparisons?
Does the environment/ location in which they are performing add to the experience? Distract? Create ambience? Appropriate to the work?
Remember form the last concert report assignment that a concert report from a music student is mean to be simple but at the same time describe the music using proper musical terminology and represent more than an emotional response to the music.
Remember when writing concert reports, if the title of the pice is long we write it in italics and if the title is short, we write it in “quotation”.
It is inappropriate to submit AI generated ( and/or information from AI sources) and that would also violate GCC’s academic honesty guidelines .I prefer to read simple, basic, honest reports from students as opposed to sophisticated, scholarly , “googled’ information.
Grades will be based on content, use of proper musical terminology, and simple explanations of the musical characteristics that are representative of the Baroque period.
Always utilize proper musical terminology. Never use descriptive words such as “loud, quiet, fast, slow”.
