COMPARING AND CONTRASTING MODELS PAPER ASSIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONSOVERVIEWThis assignment will demonstrate your ability to analyze a specific argument made by two different authors and provide an argument for which position is the most biblical.
INSTRUCTIONSThis paper will have 4 sections.1. Introduction: Provide a compelling introduction to the paper highlighting the topic and why this topic is worthy of conversation. Make sure to include a well-developed thesis statement.
2. Compare and Contrast: After having read the books The Attractional Church and The Gospel-Driven Church, compare and contrast the models presented in those books regarding the Sunday morning gathering. Make sure to explore the philosophies, processes, and practices related to each model. (Approximately 1/2 – 2/3 of paper)
3. Most Biblical Approach: Present a case (a written argument) for which approach is the most biblical using a distinct theological method as discussed in week 6. (Approximately 1/3 – 1/2 of paper)
In this section,a. Be sure that a robust biblical argument is presented citing multiple biblicalpassages related to the gathering of the church.
b. Support each argument with scholarly sources. The sources utilized in week 5 would be a good place to start.
c. This paper should utilize a minimum of 5 scholarly sources in addition to thecourse textbooks and a minimum of 3 different scholarly commentaries.
4. Conclusion: The conclusion should succinctly summarize the arguments made above and present a clear rationale why one model is more biblically aligned. Furthermore, a good conclusion at the doctoral level should provide an additional step helping the reader think through what they need to do in light of this information and what further research should be done based on the information presented.
This paper must be between 1500 & 4500 words. Be sure the paper includes a cover page, contents page, first-level headings, and bibliography. The cover page, contents page, footnotes, nor bibliography count toward the required minimum word count. Students should also avoid speaking in the first person.
