Holland’s theory assumes that the choice of a vocation or a college major is an expression of personality and that most people can be classified as one of six primary personality types (Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising, Conventional). Including a bit on Super’s Model of Career Development could expand the essay. The Unit exams tap your understanding of the material presented in the chapters assigned to the Unit (see Chapter 13 for more details on the topic of personality and career choice).
You could say: In John Holland’s Person-Environment Fit Model he theorized that people with similar personality types who work together, have a better chance of creating a work environment that is effective and rewarding. Also, he assumed the choice of a vocation, or a college major was an expression of personality. He described basic types of work environments suggesting they correlate directly to these personality types (realistic, investigate, artistic, social, enterprising, and conventional). For example, the conventional personality type is someone who likes to work with data and numbers, carry out tasks in detail and follow through on the instructions of others. They are quiet, careful, responsible, well organized and task oriented. These individuals use their mind, eyes, and hands to carry out tasks which is similar to my personality and ways of completing work duties, etc., etc.

In other words, we are evaluating your ability to understand and synthesize the information in the textbook then organize and present it in a written discussion using a standard essay format. Personal experience/opinions and additional resources should be used to expand the topic beyond what is presented in the textbook, help demonstrate a clear understanding of the material, and showcase well-developed critical thinking skills.
