Never retell any work in its entirety. Allude to parts of it.
In a paper about one work, introduce the author and title once and be done.
The voice of a story is a narrator, not to be confused with the author.
Do not say “in the story” ever. Once a work and the author are mentioned, you simply allude to the parts of a work you deem necessary and discuss that portion in terms of your point.
Story titles are referred to in quotation marks. Your title should indicate what your paper is about and be more than just the title of the story about which you are writing.
