Chapter 2 discusses the following : normal developmental crises, situational crises and existential crises.
Students should refer to the textbook for the definitions and examples of each and then think about a time that they encountered one of these crises in their own lives. Keeping in mind that the crisis produced an abnormal response from you. The crisis should be in the distant past.
Students are to provide a reflection paper, not to exceed two pages, which addresses all of the following based on the crises chosen:
- Think back to that time and ask yourself, “Looking back on the crisis, how does it now appear different than it was immediately after it happened?”
- How did you handle the crisis at the time? Thinking about what was done.
- Thinking about the crisis, what did and didn’t work, and what you think about it now.
- Evaluate what you would do differently if you had been given the opportunity.
