The assumption is
that not all indigenous regions are negatively affected by trade. To support this, I want to gather evidence from economic statistics on two
indigenous regions—one performing well and the other poorly—due to trade.
I want to
synthesize empirical data from two different regions to show that indigenous
regions are not uniformly advantaged and discover the reasons behind that. This
could involve qualitative comparisons and showing that the success of some
indigenous regions hinges on a combination of unique local factors.
Regional Comparative
Analysis: comparison of one indigenous region
performing well and the other poorly due
to trade.
I want to do a
case study comparing the performance of two different indigenous regions within
Mexico. For example, some studies compare Chiapas, Oaxaca, and Yucatán, showing
that despite similar historical disadvantages, certain regions have been more
successful in developing trade relationships or attracting investment due to
better governance, infrastructure, or economic diversification . These studies
could serve as a foundation for my comparative analysis, supporting the idea
that trade affects indigenous regions unevenly.
The purpose of
this comparison is to uncover the reasons behind these differences and address
the research question central to my thesis.
For this analysis I need to have proper in text citations including page numbers.
