Aviation Capstone Project: Part 8 – Aviation Capstone Paper Assignment

Utilizing the peer-review feedback from the Proposal Paper, 3-Tier Outline, Initial Draft of Aviation Capstone Paper, and the many other elements of the Aviation Capstone Project, complete the final draft of the Aviation Capstone Paper. Students must utilize the Aviation Capstone Template to ensure proper APA formatting.

The Aviation Capstone involves researching and writing a 10–12-page paper about the topic chosen: developing a service that addresses a need or developing an argument that addresses an issue. Once a topic has been established, it will take research to establish the service or position being addressed.

An Aviation Capstone Paper, also known as a thesis paper, starts with a question addressing a topic, gives informative details regarding that topic, integrates a biblical worldview into the topic, weaves an implementation correlating to the thesis, and draws a conclusion summarizing a solution or stance. Throughout the research, students will clearly identify, understand, evaluate, and construct a conclusion either addressing a need or formulating a stance (argument) on an issue. Students are required to look through a minimum of 2 different lenses that address the topic of study. These lenses can be from an array of viewpoints; moral, ethical, economical, scientific, historical, etc., but the final lens must be from the biblical perspective, integrating biblical worldviews into the capstone. A template is provided called Aviation Capstone Template and should be used to ensure proper APA formatting. References quoted in the body of the paper should be listed on a Reference page.

A minimum of 24 in-text citations must be used to support the contents of your paper. Cite works according to the APA format. You must have at minimum 10 scholarly sources and 2 scholarly Biblical sources. You may not include the Bible as part of the 12 minimum sources.

You will submit assignment no later than Monday of the assigned module.

Aviation Capstone Project: Part 10 – Aviation Capstone Presentation Assignment

“But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear.” I Peter 3:15 (KJV)

As Christians, we should be able to respectfully explain what we believe and why we believe it to anyone at any time. This Aviation Capstone project challenges students to keep a Christian worldview in any environment and to be ready to explain their beliefs.

Summary: The student presentation should incorporate all aspects of thinking on the topic chosen: an examination of Scripture, research, discussions, and conclusions based on knowledge, experience, and reflection of efforts. A Biblical worldview should be intrinsically and purposefully woven throughout the entire presentation. The presentation should demonstrate mastery of thesis, content, implementation, and reflection of the Aviation Capstone Project.

Audience: The audience for the Capstone presentation are professors, peers, and industry professionals. Students must assume that the audience is unfamiliar with their subject and explain vocabulary or important background information.

Time: The total length of time will be 15 minutes. A presentation that is shorter than ten minutes will automatically fail. A presentation that is longer than 15 minutes will be cut short and graded accordingly. The time cut will affect the grade since the student may not have time to complete all sections of their presentation.

Visual Aides and Background: Students are required to use an electronic visual aid for their speech, such as PowerPoint or Prezi. During the presentation, the student’s face must be seen. If the student’s face is not seen, the student will receive a zero for the presentation. The background must be professional and not distract the audience away from the presentation. Visual aids must enhance the presentation.

Delivery: The student should demonstrate good public speaking skills during their presentation. The introduction and conclusion should be given from memory, and the body of the speech should be given extemporaneously using notes. It should be obvious that the student has previously practiced. The delivery will be graded based on the student’s passion and enthusiasm for the subject. The vocal delivery will be graded based on volume, rate, variety, and clarity. The non-verbal delivery will be graded based on posture, gestures, expressions, and eye contact. See the Aviation Capstone Presentation Rubric for specific details.

Dress: The dress is business professional attire. Points will be deducted for students who are not dressed in business professional attire. The attire should not distract or detract from the presentation.

Presentation Content Summary:

Presentation should not exceed 15 minutes. (See rubric for specific grading details and guidelines on structuring the presentation):

· Introduction: There should be an attention-getter that grabs the audience’s attention. The presenter must assume the audience is unfamiliar with their topic and explain vocabulary and important background information. The presenter must establish credibility by explaining their knowledge of the topic and why the topic is important to them personally. The presenter must also establish the importance of the subject by explaining how it influences society, and how the topic personally affects Christians. To end the introduction, the presenter must state the thesis for the speech, and preview the main points within the digital presentation (PowerPoint/Prezi, etc…).

· Body: Throughout the presentation, the presenter should use obvious transitions between points. The content portion of the presentation has four essential elements:

· Research: Using a Christian worldview, student clearly states research paper thesis, summarizes the research, and the research paper conclusions in a way that is relevant and easy to follow.

· Implementation: Student explains how the thesis led to their choice of implementation, describes the implementation, and how the implementation influenced them.

· Reflection: The student clearly states a final conclusion that aligns with a Biblical worldview and reflects on how the research paper and implementation led to their final conclusion. Student must effectively defend their final conclusion using a Biblical worldview. Students must provide a personal example, two high-quality sources, and two Bible verses must be used to support the final conclusion.

· Biblical Integration: Biblical integration is woven throughout the presentation. There is a clear connection to the introduction, body, research, implementation, and reflection. The audience is left with a full understanding of the interconnectedness of the Christian faith and the thesis.

· Conclusion: The presenter should clearly transition to the conclusion and clearly restate the thesis. After that, the speaker should review the main points of the presentation. The presentation must end with a memorable closer that includes a challenge or call to action.

· Supports: At least 2 high-quality sources are cited orally during the presentation, including the publication, date, person, and credentials when possible. At least two verses are used to present the final conclusion from a Christian worldview. At least one personal experience is used to explain the student’s final conclusion.

Presentation Helpful Hints:

It is recommended that you use Kaltura to create your Narrated PowerPoint. Please click on the link below to explore how to use Kaltura. If you are not comfortable with Kaltura, you must use a technology medium that allows you to present with a visual representation and capture your PowerPoint, your face, and audio.

When submitting your presentation, copy and paste your URL to the initial post. Be sure to test your link (URL to your video). It may be a link to Kaltura, Loom, YouTube, Screencast-O-Matic, or another online video creation program of your choice. The instructor cannot provide technical assistance for your video creation, but you may find many online tools by searching phrases such as “How to record a video using [Kaltura, Loom, YouTube, Screencast-O-Matic, etc.].”

· Test the link yourself or have someone else test it before you submit it. A common error is that the link does not work for the professor to see your presentation. Another common error is that the student submits the wrong web address altogether.

You will submit assignment no later than Friday of the assigned module.
