Answer ALL the following questions in the following order.
1. Which of the religions mentioned in the photo essay, “Afro-Latinx religion(s)” was new to you and where is it practiced? 2 points What are the two most significant things must be learn about it/them? 2 points
2. Mention the role(s) women have played in the Garifuna religion and discuss the effect of migration on the religion. 4 points
3. From the article: “Why More Afro-Latinas Are Embracing African Spiritual and Wellness Practices,” mention two reasons for their embracing of African spiritual and wellness practices. 2 points
4. We have talked much about the functions of religion for women, but we often ignore their relationship with the deities. From the video: “Santería,” who is the woman’s main orisha. In one sentence, how is the relationship between the woman and the orisha? What the woman do to maintain their relationship? 4 points
5. From the articles: “The Witches of Baltimore” and “Growing Numbers of Black Women Leaving Churches for Witchcraft,” what do you consider the main reasons for them to become “witches”? Do you think race, ethnic identity, or gender is more of a factor for African-American women than for Afro-Latinas to embrace witchcraft? Support your answer. 6 points
