As a first-year student taking Introduction to Development Studies at the University of Zambia, how would you effectively contribute to the discussion without drifting from the subject matter, in relation to development within the Zambian context.

  Mr. X and Mr. Y while seated at mingling bar were engaged in a chat when they came to visit their
daughters at the University of Zambia on how best life was at UNZA during Kenneth Kaunda regime.
The two were former students at the same institution in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences.
You overheard Mr. X narrating how well he received good and free meals from new dining hall at the
University, now housing the Directorate of Research and Graduate Studies and the School of Law. Mr.
Y contributed to the discussion by saying whatever good happened was as a result of the late president’s
(Dr. Kenneth Kaunda) profoundly known as KK’s deliberate initiatives of spending national resources
on his people. Mr. X nodded his head in agreement and further added that indeed the proceeds of copper
then were really meant for the vast majority. Just like what Adam Smith once said “people are the real
