Annotated bibliography/ Handout on Alvar Nuñez Cabeza de Vaca – Relation of Alvar Nuñez Cabeza de Vaca

• Sources:
  • Include four scholarly, refereed secondary sources.
  • Do NOT use the course textbook, encyclopedias, biographies, book reviews, overviews, or abstracts.
  • Avoid websites like Wikipedia, SparkNotes, BookRags, or E-Notes.
  • Use FAMU Library resources such as MLA Bibliography, JSTOR, EBSCOhost, ProQuest, and Humanities Full Text.
  • Only use PDF versions of articles (not HTML), as they must include page numbers.
• Format:
  • Follow MLA citation style.
  • Use Times New Roman, 12 pt. font, and double-spacing.
  • Submit as a Microsoft Word document (.doc or .docx).
• Annotations:
  • Each annotation must be 150–200 words.
  • Include:
    • Summary of the source (about 80% of the annotation).
    • Assessment/Reflection on its value to your topic (about 20%).
  • Write in third person only (no “I” or “you”).

? Handout Guidelines

• Create a 1-page, original handout in your own words.
• The handout should include:
  1. A summary of the literary work you researched.
  2. A brief bio of the author and mention of their other notable works (literary canon).
  3. Key points from your research, including:
     • MLA citations for two of your sources.
     • Brief summaries of those two sources (not full annotations).
• Cite all sources used, including those for the author bio and summary.
• Submit the handout as a PDF file.
  ❗ Important Notes:
  • Points will be deducted for incorrect formatting.
  • Double-check MLA formatting and citation rules.
  • Be sure to follow all submission instructions for file types.
    In the 3-5 minute video presentation of your handout, you should share the following:
    • author’s bio and primary works
    • brief summary of the work/topic, and
    • brief summaries of two secondary sources from your annotated bibliography. (im obviously doing the video but it would be very helpful if you did this specific part on a seperate paper so i know what to say in the video presentation!
