ou will select an article to read that is relevant to the course topic, and you are asked to develop a voice-over PowerPoint /SWAY. Your PowerPoint/SWAY will need to provide a critical analysis of the article based on the theoretical and practical implications. In other words, how does the author seek to change what we think and do? The PowerPoint/SWAY should contain the following sections:
- A summary of the article and its overall message: What is the author telling us?
- A philosophical statement about how “critical consciousness” is addressed and/or defined in the article and a consideration of the importance of that definition. How does the definition differ (or not) from the other works we have read in class?
- An overview of the author’s message as it applies to the educational system, society, and the larger cultural context. What does the author criticize? What needs to be changed? How does it need to be changed?
- Discuss the personal impact of the article on your self-development, considering specifically what it has taught you about the need for social justice and social action.
The PowerPoint/SWAY should be approximately 10-15 minutes with a minimum of 10 slides. You will find directions for creating a VoiceOver PowerPoint in the course. Presentations missing voice-over or narration will be deducted 20 points.
